15 Pounds!

My first goal was 15 pounds by the end of August. I have officially met that mark.

An awesome slow carb treat...Salsa Verde. In laymen's terms, green chile salsa. I have been having it on my eggs and burgers.

4 Weeks...12 Lbs And Counting

My goal is 15 lbs for the month of August. At the rate I'm at, I should make it. There was about a week in the middle where things seemed to grind to a halt. The weight loss has picked up a bunch over the past week. I tweaked a few things...I'm drinking more water. I'm eating more carbs. The first couple of weeks I was having either beans or a veggie with the lean protein. Now I am having both. I am also eating a little more frequently. At least 4-5 times a day.

I created an awesome slow carb burrito bowl last night.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup onion
1/2 cup roasted green pepper. I roast the pepper under the broiler until the skin is blackened.
1/2 cup of mushrooms
1/4 cup of diced tomatoes
1 - 1/2 cups of slaw mix. The kind I used was shredded cabbage and broccoli.
1 cup of cubed chicken
1/4 cup of black beans
2 tbsp of salsa

Fry the chicken in a tiny bit of olive oil. Salt and pepper to taste. I have been using garlic infused sea salt. Set aside chicken. Add to the pan the slaw mix, onions, and peppers. Cook until tender. Add the mushrooms. Cook until the mushrooms are heated thru and begin to sweat. Put in a bowl, add the chicken, black beans, tomatoes and salsa. To take it over the top, add some avocado.

10 Lbs in 3 Weeks

Not a bad start, but nowhere near a total transformation. My goal for August is 15 lbs. At the current rate I should reach it. Next week I'll be upping the exercise. I should see a little flux in weight for the first few days. However, I am hoping to jump start the next 10 lbs.

It is a cheat day. My cheat is cheese on a lettuce wrap burger and a side of fries. I can't wait!

Liberal "Christian" Scholars Don't Like Genesis 1

RT @IvanTable: NPR profiles the debate raging among evangelicals on the historicity of Adam & Eve— @albertmohler appears http://ow.ly/1vwEsi

So NPR asks several CINOs (Christians in name only) why Genesis 1 cannot be taken literally.  Then NPR gives the CINOs the forum to complain about how Conservative Christians won't accept their opinions as fact.  Boo hoo.  So and so is a scholar at such and such university and he says that the Bible should be read as a poem.  Really? See if the Bible is a big book of poetry then we are not accountable to what it says.

Here's the real issue: if Genesis 1 is to be taken literally then we also have to take literally the fact that we are sinners that will be eternally separated from God when we die.  And the only way to escape that punishment is to accept the free gift of Salvation made possible by the finished work of Jesus on the cross.

Diet Cheat Day

I made homemade pizza for the kids. That was my cheat for the week. I had a big plate of green beans too. I figured it would help me limit the amount of pizza.

The Lovely Bones

I just finished reading, "The Lovely Bones."

I heard so many good things about this book. I really feel bad because I didn't like it. I didn't like it because I didn't like the people in the book. Susie's father gives up and her mother has an affair and runs away from her family. Oh, and Susie get's to come back to earth and decides to have relations instead of seeing her family. Maybe I'm missing something.

...And it isn't water weight! Slow Carb success. Awesome Slow Carb green beans.

1 Medium Tomato
Tbsp of Chopped Garlic

Heat a pan on medium heat. When the pan is heated add a little bit of Olive Oil to coat the pan. Add the chopped bacon and fry until a bit crispy. Add the beans and cook. Stir frequently. You don't want the beans or the bacon to burn. Add the garlic and tomato. Continue to cook until the tomatoes and garlic are tender.

The Broncos Need To Keep Orton

So far, Kyle Orton is the best QB the Broncos have. If Denver wants to win they need to keep him. With that said, they need to figure out a way to get Tebow playing on a consistent basis. Maybe that means using him at wideout or H-Back. The few times they did that last year it was obvious that he was going to run. Let him run the option. Do something that would give him experience and would help the team to win.

I'm tired of watching Denver lose. The fans want the team to be competitive and to win this year.

Diet - Day 7

So I am on day seven of my Slow Carb diet. So far I have lost six pounds. I didn't go crazy on my cheat day. My cheat ended up being whole grain bread with honey butter. After a week of lean protein and green veggies, it tasted better than a Snickers. I want to lose a little weight...Actually a lot of weight! My hope is to add some good habits to my lifestyle. A treat should really be a treat. Exercise should be regular. Eating should be done in moderation.
